March Happenings

March is always such a great month for science as we explore and learn about the weather. We began with the water cycle and used cotton balls and water to represent the clouds and the rain.

We also made some windsocks and tried them out on the playground to see what they could tell us about the wind.

Next we made our class book based on "It Looked Like Spilt Milk" where we looked at the clouds to see what we thought they looked like and then painted clouds on blue paper.

We learned about different kinds of storms and make some "wild weather" for our classroom bulletin board.

Our clouds in a jar experiment was a bit hit and the rainbow colors just made it that much more fun!

But the highlight of the month was definitely when we tried to catch a leprechaun! We made a little house with some treats to see if we could lure one to our classroom. It was such fun and although we didn't manage to catch one of the clever little guys, we found some evidence of a leprechaun visitor!

They had a great time searching for clues around the classroom and found a note and some gold coins.

We also made some pattern headbands and pasta necklaces! And our class won the first week of the coin challenge! The prize was a visit from our school dog "Howie". The kids all enjoyed spending a little time petting him. Thank you to everyone for sending in all the coins and money for our fundraiser!
