December Fun

We were very busy this past month preparing for holiday celebrations. We learned about giving and different ways of celebrating in different cultures. We talked about silly elves on shelves and everywhere else! The kids were excited about making our classroom quilt and sharing pictures of their families. We began by decorating our quilt squares,

adding some shiny shapes and our family photos!

Here is a look at our finished product!

Next up was gingerbread week where we were busy marble painting gingerbread men to go along with our reading of three different gingerbread men stories...

We then added lots of color, texture and glitter to decorate them for our hallway bulletin board!

Another highlight of December was our new dramatic play cookie decorating center...

Lots of little chefs in the making!

We also spent some time making holiday gifts and cards for our families. The children were proud of their special ornaments and even helped wrap them!

As a special treat, we made our annual trip to the library for a story with the other preschool classes,

followed by playtime in the gym!

Our spirit week was lots of fun... some of the highlights included crazy hair/ hat day and of course pajama day in which our class had 100% participation. Way to go preschoolers!

Happy Holidays!!!

Feeling Thankful

This past month went by so fast! We began by reading Mrs. Wishy Washy by Joy Cowley during our farm unit. We practiced story sequencing and acted out the story in small groups....

They enjoyed it so much that they wanted to act it out again and again on their own!

We also had a lot of fun exploring our new post office center, writing notes to deliver to family and friends!

Then it was time to prepare for the holiday celebration by making our turkeys and wreaths.

We learned about what it means to be thankful and spent some time listening to stories and discussing what we are thankful for...

We marble painted turkeys to write down some of our ideas to share with our families!

Then we helped make a veggie turkey and were ready for our families to come and hear us sing!

I hope you all enjoyed a relaxing Thanksgiving holiday!
