Story time and songs!

As we enter this third crazy week of staying at home and social distancing, I hope that the kids all enjoy some read aloud stories and songs/activities that we do at circle time!

Early March Events

Last week before these recent events, I had been about to post about what we had been doing here in preschool. Hopefully, this will provide a tiny distraction! We began the month exploring our new dramatic play area, the weather center. Here, the kids took turns forecasting the weather and filming the weather forecasting...

As well as dressing Froggy for the weather...

We learned about the water cycle and did a science experiment with "cloud" cotton balls and cups of water.....

We also made and tested out our windy weather windsocks...

And finally, we made our "clouds in a jar" which is always a big hit!

They enjoyed watching as the "rain" made it's way down through the "clouds" creating a rainbow of color!

February Fun!

February is an exciting time here in preschool with our Valentine's Day Swap and the winter break. We also learned about transportation and we began by making a car for our new "Auto Body Shop"  dramatic play center. Everyone was happy to help with the painting...

And then fix it by tinkering with parts, wheels, head lights, tail lights, oil, gas, windshield fluid, etc. They used clipboards with recording sheets to keep track of their work...

Our little mechanics had lots of fun!

We also had lots of fun decorating our Valentine's bags and delivering cards to all our friends and family...

And we ended the month by reading some Dr. Seuss books in honor of his upcoming birthday. We are learning about rhyming and the texts are perfect! After reading The Foot Book we did a science experiment called "fizzy feet" where we saw the effects that baking soda and vinegar have on animals with different numbers of feet...

They especially liked the bubbling, fizzing, and left over footprints! We then counted all our own feet at circle and found that we have 30 in all!
