Winter Happenings

We have been very busy this past month here in preschool. First we learned about what animals do in the winter.... hibernate, adapt, migrate.

For our study of polar animals we played in our new dramatic play center, featuring ice fishing, size matching, counting to feed the penguins and recording what we caught...

We made some name snowmen and penguins for our bulletin board,

and then enjoyed playing in the first snow on our playground!

We also had fun acting out and sequencing the story of "The Mitten" by Jan Brett,

and then we learned about the science of melting and predicted whether we thought salt would make the melting happen faster. The colored water just made it a lot more fun!

When it was too cold to go outside after the blizzard, we brought the snow inside and had a blast scooping and building with it!

Winter is definitely here!
